Welcome to GEIP!

GEIP is jointly organized and implemented by two German development agencies: GIZ (German International Cooperation) and KfW (the German Development Bank). GIZ components 1-6 are managed by GIZ with the help of a consultant firm in component 5. Component 4 is part of the international multi donor project SEDGAP (Secondary Education Development and Girls Access Project) and KfW contributing to two multi donor funded projects (BEDP  ‚Basic Education Development Project‘ and SEDGAP).

GIZ is well harmonized with the other donors active in the education sector. GEIP supports the implementation of the National Basic Edcuation Development Strategy (2003-2015) as well as the National Secondary Education Development Strategy (2007-2015) and signed, together with the majority of the donors active in the education sector, a Partnership Declaration with the Ministry of Education.

Phases:
1st Phase:     From 07/2002 to 09/2005 (3 years)
2nd Phase:    From 10/2005 to 09/2008 (3 years)
3rd Phase:     From 10/2008 to 09/2011 (3 years)

Total Financing by GIZ (current phase):
- 7.600.000 EUR for General Education
- 2.000.000 EUR for TEVT

Assists the listed sectors of the Ministry of Education:
- Technical Office (coordinates donor activities)
- Training & Qualification Sector
- Curriculum & Guidance Sector
- Girls‘ Education Sector
- Project Maintenance Sector
- General Corporation of the School Book Printing Presses
